PLAYERSPACE encourages community building in part by collecting submissions of minor’s photos engaged in activities and subsequently selecting some to post on ymcasports.org to promote the Y’s programs nationwide. This document provides safeguards to best protect the privacy of participants while promoting the Ys programs. 

Please be aware of the following controls in place in the PLAYERSPACE system when communicating with parents or guardians: 

ACCOUNT CREATION

PLAYERSPACE accounts are created during the program registration process whereas:  

 

• Parents sign off on applicable media and liability waivers.   

• Parents provide all of the child’s information 

 

All PLAYERSPACE accounts are referred to as “Family Accounts”.  Family accounts have a “Master Account” and “Sub-accounts”.  The “Master Account” is the parent(s) or guardian(s) and the” Sub-accounts" are the children.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

PLAYERSPACE accounts (Family Accounts) are 100% managed by the parent(s) / guardian(s).   The children (Sub-accounts) do NOT have access to accounts unless it is provided to them by the parents, in which case, the parent always retains 100% oversight of all “sub-account” activity.

• This provides direct notice to parents and obtains verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information online from children.  

 

• Gives parents the choice of consenting to PLAYERSPACE’s collection and internal use of a child’s information but prohibits the operator from disclosing that information to third parties.  If disclosure is integral to the site or service, this will be made clear to parents. 

 

• Family Accounts and Sub-accounts and all their related information is deleted immediately upon request except when to do so would violate an agreed to policy or law.  An example would be a specific waiver or consent form that is required either by policy or law to be maintained for a certain period of time that conflicts with request. 

 

• PLAYERSPACE maintains the confidentiality, security, and integrity of information they collect from children, including taking reasonable steps to release such information only to parties capable of maintaining its confidentiality and security. 

 

• PLAYERSPACE retains personal information collected online from a child for only as long as is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and delete the information using reasonable measures to protect against its unauthorized access or use.  In addition to deleting accounts and the associated information upon request, PLAYERSPACE works in collaboration with its YMCA customers to purge no longer needed information.
